👤 We are looking for...
a talented Cybersecurity Engineer with 5+ years of experience as a Security Engineer (or in a similar role) to join our Security team and help protect our application, infrastructure, and internal systems while actively supporting the compliance needs of our product and customers. In this role, you will safeguard Abacum against security threats, mitigate risks, and ensure we meet regulatory and industry standards. Through strong security engineering, automation, and collaboration across teams, you will help build and maintain a secure environment that earns and keeps the trust of our stakeholders.
📢 Being a Cybersecurity Engineer at Abacum means…
- Owning security processes, designing effective controls, and driving pragmatic security improvements.
- Working with engineering and IT to handle security incidents, address vulnerabilities and misconfigurations, harden systems, and incorporate security practices and automation into our SDLC.
- Implementing and operating security controls across our stack, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, authentication systems, WAFs, log management, and other core security tooling.
- Supporting sales by responding to security questionnaires, maintaining a reusable security FAQ, and joining customer or prospect calls to address security-related questions.
- Strengthening our compliance posture by partnering with auditors and internal stakeholders, automating evidence collection, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and industry standards.
- Applying cloud hardening practices and conducting internal penetration testing to proactively uncover weaknesses across our environments and products.
- Evaluating, selecting, and managing relationships with security vendors to ensure our tooling meets our evolving needs
🧠 Our ideal candidate has:
- A strong sense of ownership and a pragmatic, curiosity-driven approach to security. They are comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, IT, and go-to-market teams and are motivated to help design, build, and operate secure systems in a fast-growing environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting or leading security audits and compliance programs (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR) and translating requirements into practical controls.
- Practical experience with AWS security services, secure cloud architecture, and cloud risk management.
