About the opportunity
Abacum is a Business Planning platform that brings reporting, collaboration, planning and forecasting into one product for modern finance teams.
Founded in 2020 by two former CFOs, the company now has more than 100 people across 30+ nationalities, with offices in New York, Toronto and Barcelona.
After raising more than $100M — including a $60M Series B in 2025 — Abacum is scaling both its product and the engineering challenges behind it. Customers include Dish Networks, Strava, BetterUp, Kajabi, JG Wentworth, Abridge, Cortex and hundreds of other businesses.
You will join early enough to have a direct, long-term impact on the product, its technical design and the engineering culture while helping build a multidimensional, real-time calculation experience for finance teams.
What you'll do
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product designers and Product to run experiments and test new ideas
- Build performant, design-centric and reusable interfaces for complex product needs
- Create intuitive experiences for customisation and complex data visualisations, including graphs and charts
- Develop reusable building blocks that let users define models, variables and formulas
- Take operational responsibility for the components you write, including their performance and observability
- Work with Product and Operations to incorporate customer feedback and continuously improve the platform
- Contribute to technical design, engineering standards and a culture of ownership and continuous learning
What we're looking for
- Strong experience with TypeScript and React, or deep expertise in another modern UI framework
- Hands-on experience with state management such as Redux
- Solid command of JavaScript fundamentals, including asynchronous programming, closures, types and ES6
- Experience with modern styling approaches such as SCSS or CSS-in-JS
- Experience testing frontend applications with tools such as Jest and Playwright
- Ability to solve complex product problems using efficient data structures and sound engineering practices
- A product mindset, strong ownership and the ability to work collaboratively in an Agile, data-driven team
- A deep understanding of frontend performance and observability
- Professional English
Bonus points
- Experience with backend languages such as Python, Node.js, Go or Ruby and building RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Experience with Pandas, Polars or similar DataFrame technologies
